Syracuse, NY – Incumbent Democrat Al Stirpe won another term, this year beating challenger Republican Tim Kelly for the 127th District seat in the state Assembly in this year’s elections.
The vote was 39,181 (54.8%) for Stirpe to 30,463 (42.6%) for Kelly.
The 127th District covers the towns of Cicero, Clay, Manlius, and Cazenovia. Of the nearly 100,000 active registered voters, one-third are independent, one-third are Democrats and one-third are Republicans.
Stirpe has held the seat for 16 years. He won the last election in 2022 with 56% of the vote. This year he received 56%, as of 11:20 p.m.
Stripe, 71, raised nearly $100,000 in campaign donations; he has not received any public campaign contributions, as of Monday. He also benefited from the $101,000 the Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee spent on his behalf.
Kelly, 41, raised $26,000 in donations. He also got another $79,000 in public campaign money.
